To connect to the Internet via ISDN you need:
An ISDN phone line.
The standard ISDN phone line is called a BRI, or Basic Rate Interface. A BRI has 2 data channels and one control channel. The control channel is used to talk to the phone company. It carries phone numbers, the ringing signal, caller ID, and other such information. The 2 data channels can be used to place or receive phone calls or to pass digital data from one computer to another. For a dedicated connection you'll want to make sure you're on a flat-rate or unlimited calling plan. For the dialup option, a metered plan might make more sense.
An ISDN Terminal Adapter.
A TA (Terminal Adapter) functions much like a modem. Some TAs will allow you to use both data channels to connect to the Internet, nearly doubling the effective speed, and most will allow you to use the second data channel with a normal analog phone or fax machine.
A LAN and router.
If you're going to connect more than one computer to the Internet, then you'll need a LAN, or Local Area Network, to connect the computers to one another and a router to connect the ISDN line to the LAN. A computer running Unix or Windows NT can act as a router, but your whole network becomes dependent on that computer, so you may still want to purchase a dedicated router.
An account with an Internet Service Provider.
That's the part that we do! :)
